Remembrance for peace: Youth designed the Memorial Day in Stade
Albert-Schweitzer-Straße, 21682 Stade, Deutschland - A moving event is imminent! On Saturday, November 16, a central commemoration for the Memorial Day will be held at 4 p.m. on the former Stader garrison cemetery (Albert-Schweitzer-Straße). The Volksbund Deutsche Wargräberfürsorge invites all citizens to participate in this significant ceremony. District Administrator Kai Seefried, as district chairman of the Volksbund, emphasizes the importance of participation and the special design of the celebration this year.
The commemoration is helped to shape the 13th year of the Jobelmann School in Stade and bears the haunting motto "Silent voices - children in the shadow of war". These young adults will not only lead the memory of the dead, but also enrich the musical program with surprises. Mika Ostrau will open the event together with District Administrator Seefried and speak the closing word. In addition, the pupils Emelie Bartsch, Rebecca Haneke and Julia Hartlef will present a scenic reading, while Daniel Lang gives a “speech of the future”. Seefried is grateful for the commitment of the students and their teacher Carola Bardenhagen in order to further develop the commemoration and to actively involve the younger generations into peace work.
traditional donation collection started
The celebration is accompanied musically by the Old Land wind orchestra, which plays during the wreath laying. Reservists from the Bundeswehr are also involved in the design to commemorate the millions of victims of both world wars. In November, the traditional donation collection of the Volksbund, which is supported by many volunteers, reservists and schools, also begins. District Administrator Seefried calls for supporting the house and street collections. "Anyone who donates ten euros enables the care of a soldier's grave for a whole year," he explains. The Volksbund is devoted to the recording, maintenance and care of the graves of German war potter at home and abroad and is committed to the peace work.
