Salzgitter-Bad is sinking into chaos: garbage, rats and police alarms!
Hagenstrasse in Salzgitter-Bad is bursting at the seams - not with charm, but with rubbish. The residents are angry and the city is like a hotspot where mountains of garbage and chaos reign. Things are simmering here as if there were no tomorrow, with all that entails: rats, noisy nights and regular police operations. The desperate call of a resident who shares angry posts and photos on Facebook of the garbage drama beyond good and evil speaks volumes: “Beautiful pre-Christmas autumn photos,” he says sarcastically, showing a street that has become a garbage dump.
It is reported that the garbage is not only piling up on the sidewalks, but also taking over the gardens and bushes. Disorganized garbage cans and a full shopping cart make it clear - waste separation? Puppy cake! Here, distress and disorder reign supreme, while residents watch the chaos in outrage. It's the pictures that create excitement: "Just by looking at them you can literally hear the rats rustling," describes the person concerned dramatically, alerting the Facebook community.
Salzgitter in a state of emergency
And as if that wasn't enough, the situation boiled over in October when a conflict on Hagenstrasse came to a head with a knife scenario. Just days earlier, 30 people were involved in a mass brawl. The craziest things happen here - from a leg of pork hanging out the window to a chicken brazenly tied to a bike rack. Children use the street as a toilet – like something out of a madhouse! No wonder that the city is aware of the problem and both security services and pest controllers are on duty, apparently with limited success.
The disbelief is palpable in the Facebook group: "My goodness! That doesn't exist," is just one of many indignations. Many complain about the disrespect and general chaos in Salzgitter. The city continues to point out its reporting app, but it doesn't seem to have much of an impact. Despite numerous measures, the situation remains critical, and residents and those responsible are asking themselves: Why is no one taking decisive action against this situation?
