The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2: High-tech with small weaknesses!
The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are the newest stars in the headphone sky! With impressive technical features that are expected in this price range, they offer a lightning-fast connection thanks to “Google Fast Pair” and practical wear detection. This clever feature automatically pauses the music when the buds are removed from your ear and restarts them as soon as they are inserted. In addition, the Bluetooth multipoint function allows you to connect to two devices at the same time - perfect for switching between the film on your tablet and an incoming call on your smartphone in a flash!
The touch control of the buds is another highlight. With simple gestures you can control playback, skip songs or adjust the volume. But not everything that glitters is gold: Some users report that the buds move slightly in the ear when they are stroked over the surface, which is better solved with other models. The Bluetooth range could also be better. The connection becomes unstable in the next room and breaks off completely at a distance of around 13 meters. Compared to other models, such as the Jabra Elite 8 Active, this is disappointing.
Software features and usage
On the software side, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 offer a visual representation of the volume level and an analysis over time that warns of ear strain. The accompanying app includes an equalizer with useful presets and five adjustable bands. However, the app is not available for iOS or iPadOS, which somewhat limits its use on Apple devices, but the buds are still compatible.
The testers, Tomasz Czarnecki and Reinhard Scholl, as well as editor Fabian von Thun, put the buds through their paces. The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are an exciting product that stands out for both its innovative functions and some weaknesses!
