A new hotel in the heart of Brinkum could soon become a reality! The committee for building and district development recommended the B-Plan change for the former Hotel Bremer Tor, which is to be opened in the fourth quarter of 2026. Instead of tearing off the old building, it is gutted and redesigned for a new hotel with hall. The plan provides for the existing hotel and the former Café Zipf to connect through a middle building while a larger extension must give way.

architect Moritz Greiling from the Specht Group, which appears as an investor, has already brought several interested parties on board for the operation of the hotel. However, the renovation of the hotel brings challenges. Project manager Nico Grutzpalk sees the “Static System” as one of the biggest hurdles. "We have to deal with the individual components," he explains. The construction could begin in early 2025 with the aim of opening the hotel in October 2026. The administration and the politicians are optimistic: "Good news is that people can imagine doing the hotel," says CDU parliamentary group leader Finn Kortkamp. The Greens are also happy to receive the Café-Zipf building and hope for a bar in the new hotel. "The Bremen Tor always had a bar for the last abscess," said Greens boss Kristine Helmerichs.
