The villages of Eggeloge, Ocholt and Loy-Barghorn were awarded the best participants in this year's district competition "Our village has a future". This event took place in the Halsbek Heimathaus, where the representatives of these three villages were honored. Your services secure a place in the regional preliminary decision for the 2025 competition. The village of Eggeloge came first in the evaluation. It convinced the jury with the strong cohesion of the 336 villagers. "Every member of the village contributes to the future vialass in the many clubs and institutions. This total performance was exceptional," emphasized Hendrik Lehner, head of the Office for Environment and Climate Protection in the district. A special highlight was the creative presentation of the village, which illustrated the commitment of the community with self-painted pictures on a clothesins-short "on-lin". The community spirit of Ocholt
Second place went to the largest village in the competition, Ocholt, which counts almost 3,000 inhabitants. The jury was impressed by the village's ability to reconcile various interests and to maintain a strong sense of community. According to Lehners, this shows a remarkable strength of the community spirit. The commitment to climate protection was also recognized. For example, the Gogolka family runs a successful sale of regional vegetables and berries on their farm. In addition, machines are available around the clock that offer regional products, which promotes sustainable local supply.
The balance of tradition and modernity in Loy-Barghorn
Loy-Barghorn, which took third place, impressed the jury with the successful combination of tradition and future-oriented development. The historical estate Loy is just one of the many well -preserved monuments in the village. But the orientation towards eleven of the 17 global sustainability goals was also very popular. A working group was founded to promote the structural development of the village, whereby the priorities were set on the basis of a village survey.
With their commitment, not only the winning villages, but also all other participants, demonstrated the lively and active character of life in Ammerland. District Administrator Harms emphasized: "Without the voluntary commitment of the citizens, many infrastructure projects in the villages would not have been possible."
