New wrestling club in Neustadt: Parents fight against lack of space!

A new sports club has been founded in Neustadt, especially for the young wrestlers in the region. The RSV Olympia Neustadt was founded on the initiative of parents who were concerned about the sport of wrestling. The need for more training opportunities became clear due to the lack of space at TSG Haßloch, where over 70 children and young people are currently training.

The Palatinate Wrestling Association now has an eleventh club in its network that has also decided to grow and build a future-oriented youth department. According to acting association chairman Thorsten Libowsky, the club structure is strongly focused on promoting youth. At the head of the club is Jasmin Rimmer, who is known for her previous successes in wrestling. Her role is even more important because her father Artur Rimmer continues to work as a freestyle coach for TSG Haßloch.

New club due to lack of space

The main reason for founding RSV Olympia Neustadt was the spatial difficulties at TSG Haßloch. There is only one wrestling mat there, which is also shared with other sports groups, such as an Aikido troop. “The space constraints are obvious,” explains Artur Rimmer, who clearly describes the situation. The new club has already rented a hall from the postal sports club in order to offer the young wrestlers better training opportunities. Training times are already in full swing, even if there is a break during the school holidays.

The idea to found the new club came from committed parents who realized that many children from Neustadt travel to the training sessions in Haßloch. In order to meet the growing needs, the RSV Olympia Neustadt was created. “We are very happy about this development because it enables children and young people to get closer to their sport,” says Artur Rimmer.

Background of the Palatinate Wrestling Association

With the official founding of the RSV Olympia Neustadt, the Palatinate Wrestling Association now has a total of eleven clubs. The southwest Palatinate clubs ASV 90 Pirmasens, AV 23 Pirmasens, which was only founded in 2023, RSC Fehrbach and AC Thaleischweiler are currently part of the association. In addition, clubs such as VfK 07 Schifferstadt, AV 03 Speyer and TSG Haßloch are active in the Vorderpfalz.

The association used to be significantly larger, but numerous clubs, such as AC Dellfeld or ASV Landau, have given up wrestling for various reasons. This development makes it clear how important it is to support new initiatives so that the tradition of wrestling in the Palatinate remains alive.

The future of RSV Olympia Neustadt looks promising because the focus is on promoting youth. The commitment of the parents and the active participation of the young wrestlers offer a lot of potential for the new club. Anyone who is interested in the upcoming competitions should not miss the Haßloch youth's last home fights in the youth league on November 1st and 15th.
