Mystery surrounding missing Aurel S.: Police continue to search desperately!
The search for 19-year-old Aurel S., who was reported missing in Melbeck near Lüneburg on Friday evening, has so far been unsuccessful. On Monday, members of the riot police combed several wooded areas and a nearby campsite where the student was last seen at a freshman party.
According to the police, Aurel's trail was lost at 11 p.m. while he was celebrating with other students at the TU Hamburg. The young man was apparently heavily intoxicated; his cell phone was then found at his sleeping place. However, there is no exact trace pointing to his whereabouts. On Monday, drones were also used to search the area from the air, while the Technical Relief Agency also searched the Ilmenau with a boat - all without success.
Police and relatives work closely together
The investigators are in constant communication with Aurel's family, who continue to support the search operations. Tips continue to come from the public, which the police follow up on. On Sunday, more than 100 emergency services were involved in the search, which took place both on water and on land. Images from surveillance cameras in the area were also evaluated; The police expressed fears that it could be an accident. Investigators do not believe it was a violent crime.
Emotional reactions at the university
Andreas Timm-Giel, the president of the TU Hamburg, expressed his dismay at the student's disappearance. He described the situation as a “shock for all of us” and hopes that the search operations will end well. The executive committee and fellow students are thinking of the family of the missing person and the students who also took part in the celebration. Psychological support services have been set up for them.
Aurel S. is described as follows: He is about 1.75 meters tall, athletic and has brown, slicked-back hair.
