Munich is becoming a hotspot for life sciences: new innovation center opens!

The exciting world of biotechnology has a new hotspot: The Life Science Factory has opened its location in Munich! The ceremonial opening took place at the beginning of November on the renowned Helmholtz site, where start-ups and researchers can now realize their innovative ideas in around 1,800 square meters of state-of-the-art laboratories and a flexible co-working space. This new infrastructure is a real game-changer for the life sciences as it allows players to advance outside of the academic framework.

Startups in the spotlight

The opening event was a complete success! Start-ups such as Smartbax, 2NA FISH and DeepPiction took the opportunity to present their groundbreaking projects and make valuable contacts with investors and industry experts. Prof. Matthias Tschöp, CEO of Helmholtz Munich, praised the cooperation between the Life Science Factory and the biomedical research center: "The Life Science Factory optimally complements our existing innovation network. Together we are creating an ecosystem that connects research and business even more closely."

Dr. Joachim Kreuzburg, CEO of Sartorius AG and initiator of the Life Science Factory, emphasized the importance of this initiative for Germany as a biotech location: "Germany as a biotech location is scientifically strong, but lags behind internationally when it comes to spin-offs. The concept of our Life Science Factory closes a gap here and creates a flexible and powerful platform for start-ups to build their business." The Life Science Factory not only offers state-of-the-art laboratories, but also an extensive mentoring program and access to an extensive network that supports young companies.

The Life Science Factory has been active in Göttingen's Sartorius district since 2022 and has already established itself as a leading address for start-ups. With the opening in Munich, the innovation ecosystem will be further strengthened and offers a variety of opportunities for creative minds in biotechnology.
