Wismar. chaos on the streets! Schweriner Straße in Wismar has been closed in the city since November 6th, and the residents are at the limit! An older gentleman watches the hustle and bustle out of his window and can hardly believe it: "We have more traffic here than in a whole year!" The cause? The renovation of the badly damaged lane ceiling, which costs a price of 360,000 euros and should last until December 10th. But many drivers are simply too cumbersome!

The official diversion leads across the cross street and then further through the Ossietzkyallee and other streets. But drivers have a different plan: they use the shorter path through the quiet residential area around the Linden and Birkenweg. "So many cars drive through here that I hardly get down from the driveway!" Complains a resident. And that's not all! The traffic light circuit on Birkenweg is another problem: only nine seconds "green" - this leads to a traffic chaos that puts the patience of the residents to the test.

The residents are frustrated! "Here it would rain without end if it was checked," says a resident. The traffic situation is so tense that often several cars scurry across the intersection at red traffic lights. The city administration of Wismar refers to the state road construction office, which is responsible for the diversion. However, the residents feel left alone and urgently demand measures. "It is only a matter of time before something happens," warns a concerned homeowner. So far, there is no statement by the Schwerin road construction office, while the residents continue to suffer in their daily fight against traffic madness.
