The police in Stralsund initially remained at a loss and stated that they had not recorded any operations in connection with the shooting. “We were not informed about this,” it said. A spokeswoman confirmed that a training exercise is currently taking place in the Stralsund area and is limited to this week.

The Bundeswehr further explained that the surrounding communities are informed every six months about possible noise pollution due to shooting and training projects. “The noise is part of the nature of the Parow location,” said the spokeswoman.
