A historic moment for SSC Palmberg Schwerin! With her 1,000th Playing in national competitions, the volleyball players impressively showed in their away game in Wiesbaden why they are one of the best teams in the Bundesliga. However, VC Wiesbaden, motivated after the cup exit, could not overcome the guests' superiority and clearly lost 3-0.
Tension from the start
The game began with thrilling rallies in which VC Wiesbaden initially had the upper hand. But then the turning point came: a six-point series from SSC Schwerin, led by the strong Karla Antunovics, turned the game around. The first set ended with 22:25 for Schwerin, and the Hessians had to prepare for a tough challenge.
Wiesbaden is fighting, but mistakes cost points
In the second set, VC Wiesbaden found it difficult to get into the game. Despite a tactical time out and changes by coach Bene Frank, the mistakes kept piling up. Schwerin dominated with impressive defense and fast play, while Elles Dambrink shone with an incredible attack rate of 78%. The set clearly went to the guests at 19:25. Wiesbaden also fought doggedly in the third set, but the self-inflicted errors, especially with the serves, could not be overcome. Schwerin took advantage of the opportunity and secured the set 20:25, which sealed the deserved 3-0 win.
Coach Bene Frank said after the game: "We had good phases, but our error rate was too high to survive against a team like Schwerin. We have to work on that." With this defeat, VC Wiesbaden remains in the middle of the table and now urgently needs to collect points in the next game in order not to lose touch with the playoff places.
