A look at Czesienski's career

David Czesienski, born in 1985 in East Berlin, began his career in 2006 as an assistant at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. He completed his director's studies at the “Ernst Busch” University of Drama in 2007. In 2010 he founded the respected collective "Principle Gonzo" together with Robert Hartmann and Tim Tonndorf, where he made a name for himself through interactive and innovative theater approaches. In addition to his own direction, he also worked with the French Collectif Os’O in Bordeaux.

A special attention pays Czesienski on the children's and youth theater, which underlines its versatility and commitment to young spectators. In the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 seasons, he staged the pieces "Illusions" and "Men Women Work" at the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin in cooperation with Hartmann. His first solo work "Germania. Death in Berlin" was performed in Schwerin in the 2014/2015 season.

With its new role as acting director, Czesienski plans to make the theater in Neubrandenburg/Neustrelitz a lively place of encounter. "Together with the ensemble and the Tog's employees, I would like to make the theater a place where society can be found, experienced and developed," he explains.

With his vision and experience, Czesienski is expected to introduce new, interesting formats into the TOG. It remains to be seen which creative impulses he will set to design an attractive and diverse theater for the Mecklenburg Lake District. Sven Müller is certain that these changes will bring a positive development for the theater, both for the actors and the audience.
