Carnival in Satow: Fools take over the streets for a foolish session!

On November 11th at 11:11 a.m. the hour of the fools strikes! The crazy session begins in Germany and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania celebrates the start in Satow, a carnival stronghold. The president of the carnival regional association, Lutz Scherling, is full of anticipation: “We are ready to go, the speeches have been written!” This year, Carnival will be celebrated with numerous events until March.

Carnival in Satow: A spectacle of costumes

Hundreds of costumed jesters are expected today in front of the town hall, where Mayor Bettina de Oliveira-Arndt (CDU) will ceremoniously hand over the town hall key. “What’s happening here in Satow is a good carnival,” enthuses the mayor. The anticipation is palpable, because the new ruling couple of the Satow carnival association “Satowia” will also be announced today. Satow is ready to celebrate the foolish time properly!

On November 30th, the state prince couple will be elected in Sukow and the coveted Jester Order will be awarded. In this session seven couples will fight for the title. The highlights are the parades that take place throughout Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the Sunday before Shrove Monday. The Dömitzer Carneval Club (DCC) will present 70 floats for its 70th anniversary, while the only parade will take place on Rose Monday in Feldberg. A total of 7,500 to 8,000 active carnivalists from 88 clubs are looking forward to the celebrations, which end on Ash Wednesday.
