Autumn weekend in Grimmen: sports, celebrations and family days!

There is a lot on offer in the Grimmen region and the surrounding towns this weekend. There is great anticipation for numerous events, including an impressive autumn march. Over 700 participants from various children's and youth fire departments are expected to take part in sporting activities in Abtshagen. There is also a new Oktoberfest atmosphere at the Greifswald Museum Harbor and citizens can get actively involved in other local festivals.

On Saturday, October 12th, the traditional family sports festival will be held on the grounds of the “Friedrich Wilhelm Wander” elementary school in Grimmen, where sports enthusiasts are welcome from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is organized by the Local Alliance for Families, also known as “Kristall”, and offers a variety of entertaining disciplines as well as a small supply of supplies for the participants, who can let off steam and have fun here.

More highlights of the weekend

The big autumn march of the children's and youth fire departments in Abtshagen will also take place on Saturday. 57 youth and 21 children's fire brigades are expected here, resulting in a number of participants of over 700 young rescuers. They will set out on a long circuit of ten or six kilometers every five minutes. The first starting shot is given at 9 a.m. Maik Propp from the Abtshagen Volunteer Fire Department is not only looking forward to the participants, but also to numerous visitors who want to be part of the event.

For those who love celebrations, there will be a very special event at the museum harbor in Greifswald on Saturday from 4 p.m. The company BT-Event is organizing an Oktoberfest party with a brass band and DJ. The organizers invite guests to dress in dirndls and lederhosen and enjoy the beer-filled atmosphere. This celebration will not only be a feast for the senses, but also a real social event.

There is also another Oktoberfest taking place in the Strelasund Golf Park. From 7 p.m., visitors can immerse themselves in Bavarian traditions while fortifying themselves with delicious Bavarian dishes and refreshing beer. Admission to this festival is 20 euros and advance reservations for complete beer tent sets are recommended so that the celebrants are well looked after.
