Marpingen: Community school fit again for students after flooding!

After the devastating Pentecost flood, the community school in Marpingen was finally open to all students again! The impressive renovation cost a whopping 1.25 million euros, as District Administrator Udo Recktenwald (CDU) reported at the last district council meeting. The water not only flooded the basement, but was also centimeters high on the ground floor of the school building and caused massive damage.

But those responsible didn't take long to ask! The renovation work began relatively quickly, making optimal use of the summer holidays. New floor coverings, freshly painted walls and extensive electrical work were on the agenda. Although not everything could be completed by the start of the new school year, lessons were still possible. A real show of determination and commitment to get the school back up and running as quickly as possible!

Costs and challenges of renovation

The enormous costs of 1.25 million euros illustrate the challenges that the community had to overcome. The damage was significant and the rapid response of those responsible was crucial to providing students with a safe learning environment. The renovation is a significant step towards normality after the devastating effects of the flood.
