Noise and transit: Tyrol's fight against the truck collapse on the Brenner!
An important step to improve traffic management on the Brenn corridor was carried out in Kufstein today. Tirol's governor Anton Mattle, South Tyrols Arno Kompatscher and Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder agreed on a joint explanation that causes a digital traffic management system. This system is intended to equalize truck traffic, minimize traffic jams and increase security of supply for the population. This reports ORF Tirol.
The signing shows that the trucks that can be booked in advance may pass the burner corridor, which results in less noise and environmental damage. "The high volume of traffic is an enormous burden for people in our country," said Mattle, making the urgency of these measures clear. The long -term shift of freight traffic from the street to the rail is also important, Mattle continues. This supports projects to improve rail transport and the infrastructure in line with the Brenner Basi tunnel, the decisive project for the future of the region and European networking.
political unity and challenges
Looking back at the current developments, Mattle also emphasized the consent within the Tyrolean state government in relation to anti-transit measures, which should not be hollowed out by the introduction of the new system. "There are no lazy compromises," he clarified, while he spoke of the need for proper noise protection. In a recent government program of the federal government, the demands from Tyrol were also examined in more detail in terms of truck ban and noise reduction. According to Mattle, seven references to Tyrol can already be seen in the traffic chapter.Nevertheless, opposition parties raised sharp criticism of the implementation and the previous measures. The conversations about harmonized solutions are primarily to create relief for citizens and the environment, while at the same time the competitiveness is to be strengthened. In particular, the FPÖ called for a transparent discussion about existing driving bans. These challenges will now be clearly noticeable in the upcoming negotiations between the national governments of Austria, Italy and Germany. According to the Tyrolean governor, "everyone has to pull together" in order to achieve a sustainable solution for the burner corridor.
