Cologne riflemen celebrate their majesties: an evening full of splendor and honor!

In the magnificent shell hall of Cologne's historic town hall, the riflemen beamed with their glittering medals! Mayor Andreas Wolter honored the “Majesties” of the Cologne City Rifle Association for their remarkable commitment to promoting social cohesion in the city. At this festive ceremony, eleven shooters were allowed to sign the city's guest book - a moment that "you will never forget your whole life," as the shooters' spokeswoman, Michaela Ommer, emphasized.

The shooters had to prove themselves in an exciting competition. “In the City Majesty Shooting, shooters in different age groups and disciplines compete against each other,” explained Ommer. From heavy caliber to small caliber to air rifles - the competition was tough! Whoever got the bird off the perch was crowned their majesty. The youngest majesty, Fay Lynne Wiethaup, who was only six years old, was allowed to sign the guest book, as was the city queen Tanja Sopora and other title holders. “For someone from Cologne, this is the greatest honor of all,” summed up Ommer, who herself experienced this honor 21 years ago.

Tradition and community in focus

In his speech, Wolter emphasized the importance of the shooting clubs: "I am very grateful that tradition is preserved in Cologne through the shooting clubs. They enrich our social life and promote community and integration." Alexander Ommer, city marksman, invited the mayor to the next city majesty shooting and joked: “Maybe the bird will come straight down!” He also thanked the city for its support and emphasized the idealists who stand up for faith, customs and homeland.
