Kickl speaks of a crisis of democracy: FPÖ calls for new elections and bans!
The FPÖ plans to submit a motion for new elections to the National Council on Wednesday, although party leader Herbert Kickl is not expecting strong support. At a press conference, he emphasized that this application could be made active at any time. The FPÖ also wants to introduce a “prohibition law” against political Islam and stricter regulations for asylum seekers. Kickl sees the emerging turquoise-red-pink three-party coalition as hardly legitimate and speaks of a “democratic crisis” that is “extremely dangerous” for the population. This is due to the fact that citizens were deceived about budget and economic issues before the election, such as oe24 reported.
In an analysis of the current political situation, Kickl described the “unified parties” as trapped in a system that fears change. The FPÖ chairman made it clear that it was not he, but the ÖVP who had failed to form a government because negotiations had been against the FPÖ from the start. In this context, Kickl made a connection between the recent terrorist attacks in Austria and Germany and irregular migration and described the victims as “firewall dead”. His general secretary, Christian Hafenecker, added that the political responsibility for these incidents lies with the current rulers. Kickl added that voters had been “coldly lied to” before the election, further eroding trust in the government. The ÖVP countered Kickl's allegations by accusing him of wanting to distract from his own voter fraud The press reported.
