On October 23, 2024, an impressive reading project was presented at the Fritz-Straßmann-Realschule plus in Boppard that motivates students to discover the world of books. “How can we get young people excited about reading?” – The school asked this central question in the face of declining reading interests among young people between the ages of eight and twelve. To counteract this, an innovative concept was developed that combines a passion for football with reading.
The “kick & read” project was a creative approach to encourage students to read. The sixth graders enthusiastically participated in this reading project, which aimed to promote the joy of reading in a motivating environment. The reward for the committed young readers? Mainz 05 jerseys and brand new footballs, which not only served as an incentive, but also symbolized the joy of reading. This combination of sporting ambition and literary discovery created a lively learning atmosphere.
