Cry for help from Ukraine: millions are suffering in the icy winter!

An alarming cry for help from Ukraine! The third winter in the shadow of war is approaching, and the situation is getting dramatically worse. Civilians suffer the devastating effects of targeted attacks on infrastructure - this is the cold winter from which no one can escape! Over 14 million people are in dire need and hunger is becoming a reality as temperatures fall. Maria Rüther, general manager of “Aktion Deutschland Hilft”, speaks plainly: “Our help is now more necessary than ever!” But the willingness to donate is decreasing! This could have disastrous consequences!
Icy temperatures, destroyed heating systems and power outages lasting hours – people are fighting for survival. Food, medicine, building materials for repairing homes as well as blankets and winter clothing are urgently needed. What is shocking is the fact that many agricultural areas are mined! How can people live in this inhospitable cold? “Aktion Deutschland Hilft” is immediately there to help, and the organizations are mobilizing their forces to provide acute emergency aid!
Winter aid in focus
The situation is oppressive, but hope is alive - various aid organizations are in action! The Workers' Samaritan Association has set up supply points in Kyiv where people can not only find warmth but also receive medical help and food. 24/7 emergency supplies even include winter kits for the icy months! While CARE is helping to rebuild the destroyed houses and arche noVa is distributing the urgently needed materials for self-repair, Malteser International is ready to help more than 84,000 affected people with life-saving winter kits in the cold months.
Psychological support is also very important. Numerous programs offer urgently needed help to children and adults traumatized by war. With the goal of supporting more than 500 families per month, aid organizations work tirelessly to help the wounded souls! The international community is watching – will it help in time?
