This innovative service was implemented as part of the online access law (OZG) on the website of the municipality of Altenstadt and is the result of a cooperation between the state of Hesse and the Hanseatic city of Bremen. Thomas Thren, the digitization officer of the municipality, explains that the use of the portal not only includes the agreement of an appointment, but also offers the option of submitting pre -registration for marriage online. In addition, bride and groom can conveniently request documents and partner certificates online and pay their fees directly via payment methods such as PayPal or credit card.

Mayor Dominic Imhof expressed his enthusiasm for the new service and sees him as an important step to steadily expand the services of the community. "We are planning to make further services available online in the coming months and will meet our obligation under the online access law," said Imhof. "Our goal is to create a hybrid range of services in which all citizens, whether online or personally, can present their concerns with us," added the mayor.
