Man donates his assets for the needy: an inspiring story!
In a remarkable gesture of solidarity, 84-year-old Wilfried Homuth from Hofgeismar decided to donate his entire savings for charitable purposes. "I have now arrived at the end of my life and want to do something good with my money," said Homuth, who has already donated 65,000 euros to different organizations. Among the beneficiaries is the table in Hofgeismar, which urgently needs support. "We finance part of the repair costs at the table bus from last year," said Tafel coordinator Frauke Wiegand. Homuth's generosity is extraordinary, because such high donations are rare in the board. Most people donate smaller amounts, while many donors specify special purposes, which the table cannot meet due to their statutes, since they only save foods that would otherwise end up in the trash, like merkur.de reported.
a life full of deprivation
Wilfried Homuth knows from his own experience what hunger and deprivation mean. He was born during the war and his family had to flee from Kassel, which caused him to be born in Hanau. As an electrical test technician, he worked in different countries for decades and saw a lot of misery. His experiences motivate him to help others: "Anyone who is better should think about how they can help other people," says Homuth. Numerous organizations have already benefited from its generosity, and the table is currently helping to pay the urgently needed repair work on the table bus, which amounts to a total of 8,000 euros. In addition, new transport material for the volunteers is purchased, such as wikipedia.org supplemented.
