After six years under the management of Samantha-Joana Krämer, the cult snack bar, known for its hearty curry sausages and the popular fries with mayo, will no longer be open. According to the sign on the door, the decision to say goodbye to the loyal regular customers was painful: “We would like to thank you for your years of loyalty and unforgettable moments,” the team announced, and wished “everyone a Merry Christmas.”

However, the decision to close was not taken lightly. The operator cited the high monthly rental costs of over 3,000 euros and the challenging financial situation after the pandemic as the main reasons. There is also a personal tragedy because Krämer is seriously ill. In an emotional statement, she said that the grill was more than just a snack bar: “It was a meeting place where everyone was welcome.” It is also tragic that despite the search for a successor, negotiations with the landlord failed, which led to the final closure. The rental agreement remains in effect until December 31st, but the grill closes on Friday, like East Hesse News reported.

Samantha-Krämer describes the grill as a big family where every guest was welcomed with a smile, regardless of whether they were homeless or wealthy. Here they created community and warmth. During the run-up to Christmas, the snack bar was a popular meeting place that brought people together. The loss of the “Bahnhof’s Grill” is regretted by many long-established Fulda residents who experienced unforgettable moments there. The closure of this popular snack bar is not only the end of an era, but also highlights the harsh real-world conditions that many small businesses, including the Fulda newspaper.
