Timetable change 2024: Massive changes in the HVV network expected!
Hamburg, Deutschland - The HVV is facing a big change! The Senate decided on Tuesday the price increase, and now the details on the timetable changes have become known from December 15, 2024. The new regulations concern both subway and S-Bahn lines and will significantly influence mobility in Hamburg and the surrounding area.
The U1 subway line will start in the 5-minute cycle after Ochsenzoll during the week earlier, while the U2 extends the clock to Niendorf Markt. But not everything is positive: the S-Bahn line S3 suffers from bulkheads from Schleswig-Holstein, which leads to a drastic decline in trains after 10 p.m. and on weekends. The AKN lines A1 and A2 also have to adjust to longer waiting times, since the clock is increased from 20 to 30 minutes. The regional trains are also affected, with extensive restrictions between Hamburg and Schwerin due to construction work.
ferry and bus traffic affected
In ferry traffic, HADAG will offer a limited timetable on line 72 by March 31, 2025. The bus lines also experience numerous changes: The ExpressBus line X46 has had a new 20-minute cycle since July, while city bus line 113 was increased to a 15-minute cycle. But here too there are negative news: Due to construction work on the Berlin Tor, the metrobus line 25 is expected to be shortened for two years.
These comprehensive changes in the HVV network show that mobility in Hamburg faces major challenges. Passengers have to adjust to longer waiting times and fewer connections, while new lines and clock compaction are introduced. The coming months will be crucial to see how these measures will affect daily commuting.
