In Westendorf, Ostallgäu district, the digital future is becoming tangible! Deutsche Telekom has been awarded the contract for the fiber optic expansion and is now getting started. Around 980 households and companies can look forward to lightning-fast Internet connections of up to 1,000 megabits per second! Construction work will begin shortly and the first connections should be ready by the end of 2027. Real progress for the region!
Fiber optic expansion in full swing!
In Kaltental, Telekom will lay more than 68 kilometers of fiber optic cable and set up eleven new network distributors. Mayor Manfred Hauser emphasizes: “Today, bandwidth is as important as gas, water and electricity.” Around 460 households and companies here benefit from the new technology. In Stöttwang, over 36 kilometers of cable will be laid for around 150 households and companies, while in Westendorf 62 kilometers will follow for 375 households and companies. Mayor Fritz Obermaier emphasizes: “Fast Internet is part of the lives of our citizens – privately and for business.”
Telekom and the Westendorf administrative community are working hand in hand to make the construction work as smooth as possible. Attention is paid to transparency and professional construction site management in order not to burden residents unnecessarily. Switching to fiber optics is worth it: the new connections are not only faster and more reliable, but also less prone to failure and more environmentally friendly. A fiber optic connection also increases the value of real estate - an unbeatable argument for anyone who lives or wants to invest in the region!
