Geoff Tate rocks Bensheim: An evening with Queensrÿche classics!
Geoff Tate, the legendary voice of Queensrÿche, recently rocked the stage of the REX music theater in Bensheim! As part of his “Big Rock Show Tour 2024”, the singer presented an impressive set of 14 classics that took the audience on a journey through time through the band’s best years. Tate opened the evening with the hit “Empire” from the album of the same name, and fans were immediately captivated.
But first, former Queensrÿche drummer Josh Watts heated things up with his acoustic program. With his brilliant guitar and an engaging voice, he thrilled the audience and set the perfect start to the evening. This was followed by the band Sons of Sounds, who delivered powerful performances and a mix of old and new hits. The birthday serenade for the band's mother in particular created a warm atmosphere in the hall.
The return of the Queensrÿche classics
Geoff Tate kept the audience on the edge of their seats as he performed hits such as “Operation Mindcrime” and “Silent Lucidity”. The setlist consisted exclusively of songs released between 1984 and 2003, which only increased the nostalgia among fans. Despite his age of 65, Tate impressed with a vocal power that astonished many. But the volume of the sound left some in the audience hesitant, as the experience was marred by overdriven sounds.
After just 70 minutes the main act was over, which was disappointing for some as they had hoped for more from an artist with over 45 years of experience. Nevertheless, one can say that the evening in Bensheim was a completely successful event thanks to the strong support acts and the unforgettable songs by Geoff Tate!
