Leverkusen on alert!

On Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, at exactly 10:57 a.m., the alarm bells of the fire department in Leverkusen rang! A wrecked boat in the idyllic Hitdorf marina was targeted by rescuers because water was entering the vehicle. A risky scenario that immediately mobilized numerous emergency services!

The control center reacted quickly and sent the professional fire department and the Hitdorf and Rheindorf volunteer fire departments to the scene. After an initial investigation it became clear: during a towing operation, water had entered the engine room of the boat and had mixed with potentially dangerous fuel or oil! The boat was lying dangerously on a wooden pier in the middle of the harbor - it was now time to bring the small ship to safety!

Rescue operation in full swing!

Under the watchful eye of the fire department, the boat was escorted to a safe berth on the quay wall. That’s where the heroic emergency services intervened! Within 2 ½ hours, a total of 22 courageous firefighters with 10 vehicles fought against the danger and pumped the dangerous mixture out of the boat. A dramatic spectacle in the harbor that left the residents in suspense! The fire brigade's quick and effective response prevented anything worse from happening and ensured a happy turn in a dangerous incident!
