An exciting winter fun has begun! Late on Friday afternoon, the ice skating rink in Görlitz shone in new splendor when talented figure skaters from Reichenberg (Liberec), Czech Republic, heralded the opening with an impressive performance. The 450 square meter area on the Obermarkt is now accessible to all ice skaters who want to do their rounds and enjoy the winter atmosphere. And the best part? The popular curling is also back!
The skating rink will remain open until January 5th, giving both young and old skaters the opportunity to show off their skills on the ice. The anticipation for the festive season is increasing because the Silesian Christmas market opens its doors on November 29th. It starts at 2 p.m., followed by the ceremonial opening at 5 p.m. with the traditional cutting of the stollen and musical performances by various choirs.
A special kind of Christmas market
This year the Christmas market will be extended beyond the Old Town Bridge to Zgorzelec for the first time! On one weekend, from December 13th to 15th, a joint Christmas market will take place on both sides of the Neisse, which will add to the festive atmosphere.
