Naturalization in the Hall district: 2000 applications are waiting to be processed!

In the Schwäbisch Hall district, naturalizations are in jeopardy! Anyone seeking German citizenship must be prepared for a long waiting period. Over 2,000 applications are currently unprocessed and are backed up in the district office. The situation is alarming!

The new law to modernize nationality law, which came into force in June 2024, was actually intended to ensure faster naturalizations. Foreigners can now apply for German citizenship after five years, instead of the previous eight years. People who are particularly well integrated even have the opportunity to become naturalized after just three years. But the reality is different: the Office for Migration in the district office is struggling with a massive shortage of staff. A third of the positions remain unfilled, which jeopardizes the implementation of the law.

Shortage of staff in the Office for Migration

The inadequate staffing means that the authority cannot cope with the onslaught of applications. Citizens hoping to become naturalized must be prepared for uncertain waiting times. The pressure on employees increases while hope for rapid processing dwindles. The situation is not only frustrating but also worrying for everyone waiting for a positive decision.
