Didacta Association demands: Implement Digital Pact 2.0 now!

The Didacta Association is sounding the alarm! The Digital Pact 2.0 is on the brink! With the sudden break of the traffic light coalition and the resignation of Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger, uncertainties about the continued existence of digitalization projects in the education system have been reignited. The previous digital pact, which expired in May of this year, has so far remained without an agreement on future financing between the federal and state governments, and the calls for immediate action are getting louder!

Dr. Theodor Niehaus, President of the Didacta Association, makes it unmistakably clear: "Now is the time to usher in a new era for digitalization! Our children must be well prepared for the future. The need for investment in the digitalization of schools is more urgent than ever!" So far, the federal government has provided 90 percent of the funds for the digital pact, but plans to share half of the funding in the digital pact 2.0 with the states in the future - and the total budget is only a third of what the first digital pact included. Timelines? The new digital pact should be launched for five years from 2025, but after the traffic light crisis this is becoming an increasingly unlikely goal.

Schools under pressure!

Schools in Germany now need planning security! A shortage of teachers and an increasingly heterogeneous student population present teachers with immense challenges. Digitalization strategies could help here! According to Niehaus, digital solutions could make a massive contribution to relieving the burden on teachers by providing AI-generated learning materials and tools for individual learning status evaluation.

In April, the Didacta Association published a position paper with the ten crucial demands for successful school digitalization. Niehaus urgently demands: "Schools and teachers must not be left without professional support in digitization! We call on everyone involved to immediately implement the Digital Pact 2.0!"
