On Friday morning, June 6, 2025, there was a roof truss fire in a residential building in Gerresheim, a district of Düsseldorf. The alarm was raised around 9:45 a.m. after callers reported smoke. Several fire and rescue service units were immediately alerted. The emergency services arrived at the scene, which was located on Lakronstrasse, just a few minutes after the alarm was raised and immediately began fighting the fire.
A special force was sent into the building to fight the fire, while two turntable ladders were positioned outside the building. Quick action by the fire brigade meant the fire was brought under control after around 40 minutes. The subsequent extinguishing work included checking the roof to extinguish embers that could have potentially led to the fire breaking out again.
Injuries and property damage
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. However, one person had inhaled smoke. An investigation revealed no hospital treatment was required. The Düsseldorf public utility company switched off the power supply to the affected building, while all parts of the building, with the exception of the fire apartment, could continue to be used. Around 40 emergency services were involved in the measures and returned to their locations after around three hours.
