Bronze relief unveiled: Zossen's story becomes alive!

Zossen, Deutschland - In Zossen, a bronze relief was recently unveiled that shows the former castle and fortress of the city. The solemn occasion was opened in a historical manner with a cannon shot. The installation is in the immediate vicinity of the Dreifaltigkeitskirche, on a pedestal next to a peace oak and offers visitors and locals an impressive view of the history of the region.

The event attracted numerous guests, including city dwellers, members of the home club Alter Krug and politically interested. Karola Andrae, the chairwoman of the home club, welcomed those present and spoke about the significant time of the excavations that took place four years ago on the Zossen Markt. These historical excavations were the origin of the idea of creating a relief, as the initiator Thomas Krause described.

The roots of the project

The archaeologist Ulrich Wiegmann gave exciting insights into the creation of the Zossen Castle and the historical background, which are important for the design of the relief. In his presentation, he conveyed the basics that were necessary to reconstruct the 17th century Castle.

Mayor Wiebke Sahin-Conlly (FDP) paid tribute to the tireless work of the home association and the municipality, which made it possible to realize this work of art. "The bronze relief is a great gift to our city, which reminds us of our historical roots and strengthens the community," she explained in the unveiling.

Financing for the project was a challenge, since no funds were planned in the city's budget. The home club collected donations to realize the work of art. Krause told with great passion of the two years of hard work, which flowed into Diedetetetetetails, while the audience reacted to the unveiling with great applause.

medieval festivities and dishes

The solemn event was framed by a medieval festival, in which visitors enjoyed traditional dishes such as soup goulash and pumpkin specialties. A special highlight was the "Burgbier" of the Zossener Brewery Gäbert, which was offered with 200 bottles in a limited edition.

Michael Roch, responsible for city marketing, is convinced that the bronze relief is not only a cultural milestone for zossen, but also embodies the connection of the population with its history. He found that it will be a popular meeting place for locals and visitors.

The unveiling of the relief in Zossen gives the past to life and is a visible testimony to the rich history of the region. The artwork will now have a permanent presence on the church square and the story of Zossen will continue to be told.
