A devastating fire broke out yesterday evening in an apartment building on Edgar-Bennert-Straße in the Lankow district! At 6:40 p.m., noticeable smoke alerted the fire department and the emergency services launched a heroic battle against the flames in the basement of the building. Fortunately, all residents remained uninjured - a fortunate circumstance in this dramatic situation.
With impressive determination, 16 men and women from the professional fire department and 9 courageous volunteers from the Warnitz fire department were on site to put out the inferno. Their efforts prevented anything worse from happening, and the apartments in the house remained intact and habitable. Nevertheless, the fire and the subsequent extinguishing water caused considerable damage of around 5,000 euros. The police have now started an investigation into the cause of the fire and are asking the public for help.
