Chaos on Nuthestraße: Accident stops rush hour traffic in Potsdam

Potsdam.A dramatic traffic accident caused massive traffic jams on Nuthestraße late on Tuesday afternoon! According to a police spokesman, several cars collided, which resulted in the road being immediately closed. Motorists had to prepare for significant delays while emergency services were on scene.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. near Wetzlarer Strasse, and Nuthestrasse was closed for around 30 minutes. The road was only reopened at 5:40 p.m. But the consequences were devastating: the backlog reached as far as the Berliner Strasse intersection and affected the flow of traffic throughout the city. There were even traffic jams on the Breite Straße as many drivers tried to get onto the expressway via Meyer-Ohr and Friedrich-List-Straße.

The police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the accident. It is still unclear whether the bad weather with rain and gusts of wind played a role. However, a police spokesman suspects that it could have been a rear-end collision. Up to six vehicles were reportedly involved and there were at least three injuries. However, the police have not yet been able to confirm this information and initially spoke of property damage and “four to five vehicles involved”.
