Career information fair in Germering: Students find their dream job!

The career information fair in Germering was a complete success and recently attracted around 2,000 students. This event represented a central point of contact to offer young people orientation in the often overwhelming jungle of career choices. With over 100 exhibitors and 40 specialist lectures, the trade fair offered a rich program that brought together both students and companies.

An important goal of this trade fair was to give students insights into various professions so that they can plan their path into the world of work in a well-informed manner. The Germering Business Association organized the event in collaboration with teachers and parents, creating a platform that promotes dialogue between educational institutions and employers.

Diverse offers and perspectives

The diversity of the companies represented was impressive. Markus Krabacher, managing director of a construction and renovation company, answered questions from young interested students such as Antonio Zubak from the Wittelsbach middle school. The fair was particularly important for Antonio because he had to visit several stations and present the information at school.

“It was worth it,” said the 16-year-old after he was able to make a lot of contacts. His plans have sharpened: In addition to starting a technical college (FOS), he is now also considering a training alternative in the administrative area of the district office. Such concrete perspectives make it clear how valuable such information fairs are for the future of the students.

Markus Krabacher sees his participation in the trade fair not only as a benefit for recruiting new trainees, but also as an opportunity to improve the image of the trade. “Young people should see that crafts are a real alternative,” he said.

The childcare facility “Forttritt Bayern” was also present at the trade fair. Trainee Elias Broder and educator Fabian Geng proactively approached the students to answer questions about training paths and content. “You have to have a good rapport with children,” they emphasized, while at the same time pointing out that a good school leaving certificate can shorten the training time.

Mailin Schwarzmaier, a counselor at the Max-Born-Gymnasium, was busy throughout the event showing different educational paths. She explained how students from middle or secondary school can enter the eleventh grade of a high school. “The career information day is an ideal stage for this,” she stated.

Mayor Andreas Haas emphasized the importance of the event for both students and companies: “The information day can be the first step to your dream job.” This statement was supported by Ministerial Director Andrea Niedzela-Schmutte, who pointed out the importance of professional orientation. Deputy District Administrator Martina Drechsler described the trade fair as a proven institution that gives young people support in their career choices.

The very positive response from the students not only shows their interest in different careers, but also the need for targeted support during the transition into the professional world. For many it was more than just a trade fair – it was a step towards the future.
