Vandalism before the inauguration: Graffiti on a new bridge in Berlin!

A scandal shakes Berlin! The brand new foot and cycle path bridge between the Adlershof and Johannisthal S-Bahn stations, which is not even open to the public, was daubed with graffiti by unknown perpetrators. Despite strict construction site security, the vandals apparently found a way to enter the structure and deface it!

The Hilde Archenhold Bridge, which has been under construction since December 2022, was actually supposed to be ceremoniously inaugurated on November 18th. Prominent politicians wanted to take part in the ceremony, including Building Senator Christian Gaebler and Transport Senator Ute Bonde. But the anticipation of the first bridge in Berlin made entirely of aluminum is now being clouded by this vandalism. Unknown people probably used gaps in the construction fence to spray graffiti on the bridge's concrete supports - an absolute low point for this prestigious project!

Senate Transport Administration announces immediate measures

The Senate Transport Administration is alarmed and promises immediate action. A spokesman for the “Berliner Morgenpost” explained that the construction site security would be restored immediately if it was damaged by unauthorized access. But the question remains: Will this actually stop the vandals from striking again? The answer to this is uncertain.

The bridge, which is intended to serve as a connection between the Adlershof residential area and Johannisthal, is now the focus of attention. With a length of 74 meters and a modern design, it was intended to set an example for progress in the capital. Instead, it now stands in the shadow of vandalism, which significantly dampens the anticipation of the inauguration.
