Cooking group for young mourners: Cooking and living together together!

Götzstraße, 12099 Berlin, Deutschland - In Berlin, an extraordinary cooking group has formed for young people who have experienced a deep loss: "Soul food". Here, mourners between the ages of 20 and 35 meet here to cook, laugh and share their stories. "There are too few offers for young mourners," says Anna Ziegenhagen, who founded the group. Many have lost their parents and narrow relatives much too early. This group becomes an important retreat for those who are looking for what often has no place in society - sharing grief and living out emotions in a protected environment.

Jannick, 25 years old, is one of the participants. He lost his mother three years ago and has set himself the task of organizing the monthly meetings to help like -minded people. The atmosphere in the kitchen is lively, while the participants prepare a pumpkin soup together and talk about their losses at work. "I felt the first semester after death," recalls Jannick. That evening you give each other support and can exchange experiences, which is often not possible in the anonymity of the university.

The mourning companion Ziegenhagen emphasizes that grief has a completely different intensity in these years. "If parents die at the age of 50 or 60, it is very early. The future will also die," she explains. Younger mourners often face the challenge that they can no longer just return to everyday life after a heart loss. "Not only did my parents die, but often also best friends," she describes the emotional load. This feeling of soul mate is what makes this cooking group so valuable.

"Soul Food" not only offers the opportunity to develop culinary skills, but also a valuable platform to master the challenges of grief. "Discussing memories, laughing and preparing delicious food helps to master the hardest moments," adds Liz, a participant. Together they create not only dishes, but also memories that they will accompany for a lifetime.
