Female school Sensei: Integration through Sport in Reinickendorf
Last Saturday, the Sensei martial arts school in Reinickendorf opened its doors for a special day of open training. District Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU) was full of praise for the facility and described the visit as a big family festival.
Since 2001, Sensei Kampfsport e.V. has trained over 5000 children, including refugees. The school promotes the integration of different nationalities and even offers special training for women over 35, namely "fit kick boxes".
The founder of the school, Mecit Sızmaz, has been practicing martial arts for 35 years and has achieved considerable qualifications in anti-terrorist fight and kickboxing. He is supported by his son Şafak, who is also trained in kickboxing, and his daughter Selin, who acts as a trainer.
In addition to training, Sızmaz is also a mentor for the 250 club members. Even the youngest members, the "fighting cats" aged three to six years, look up at him. The oldest member of the association is 77 years old.
The Sensei martial arts school lives integration and creates a second family for the people in Reinickendorf. The enthusiasm and commitment of Mecit Sızmaz and his team not only teach martial arts, but also promote cohesion and integration.
