Dance theater piece Look at me! reveals the truth about consumer society in Hohenschönhausen!
Young people in Hohenschönhausen will have the opportunity to watch the captivating dance theater piece “Look at me!” by the talented choreographer Steffi Sembdner. The performances will take place on three different dates, starting with the premiere on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 4 p.m. in the Welseclub youth leisure facility. The piece addresses consumption and social inequality, based on conversations with young people in Neu-Hohenschönhausen.
“Look at me!” raises important questions: What lies behind the external appearance? Are you only accepted if you wear the latest fashion? Who is left out in this quest for recognition? The dance piece shows the history of a society that measures a person's value by material goods and counters this with the development of an inner attitude.
The performance was specially designed for this location and is supported as part of the KiA Lichtenberg program to promote the performing arts for young audiences. Admission to all performances is free and registration is not required. There will be an audience discussion following each performance.
In addition to the premiere performance on October 10th at 4 p.m. in the Welseclub youth leisure facility, further dates for school classes are planned on October 11th and a final performance on October 18th in the Girls' Sports Center Pia Olymp.
A unique opportunity for young people to engage with important social issues through art and dance. Further information about the performances can be found on the official website www.berlin.de.
