Fireworks horror: Nuremberg experiences traumatic New Year's Eve!

On New Year's Day 2025, tragedy struck a mother-daughter relationship from Nuremberg when they learned that New Year's Eve rockets severely damaged their apartment in Nuremberg. Claudia B. (71) and her daughter Avaszene (48) had spent the holidays in Italy and were informed by a neighbor about the incident that had occurred in the balcony area of their apartment.

After the call about the fire that broke out on the balcony of Claudia's apartment around 9 a.m. on January 1st, the two women canceled their vacation and immediately flew back to Nuremberg. The fire destroyed almost all of the furniture, clothing and memorabilia that was in the apartment. The window panes were broken by the heat of the fire, which quickly spread within the apartment, creating signs of uninhabitability, and the women were only allowed to enter the apartment wearing face masks.

High costs and psychological stress

A cost estimate for clearing out the apartment amounts to over 10,000 euros, without including the renovation costs. Claudia B. has no insurance, which increases the financial burden on the family. In addition, the facade of the apartment building in which the apartment is located also needs to be renewed. Ava Scene expresses concern about the emotional state of her mother, who is reacting strongly to the loss.

Both women are surprised that private fireworks are allowed in the city center and appeal to citizens and neighbors who saw something on New Year's Eve to contact the police. A fundraising page has been set up to help deal with the financial consequences of the fire.

Dangerous fireworks in Berlin

Parallel to this incident, another alarming incident occurred in Berlin on New Year's Eve 2024. A man shot a rocket from the street into an apartment in Neukölln, like t-online.de reported. The rocket flew through a third-floor window and exploded inside the apartment. It is unclear whether anyone was in the apartment at the time.

The police were informed of the incident and have begun an investigation, with a fire commissioner investigating the matter as attempted aggravated arson. Fortunately, there were no injuries and tenants were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which caused only minor property damage. The man who fired the rocket is influencer Atallah Younes, who initially posted the video of the incident on Instagram but deleted it shortly afterwards. In a later video, he apologized for the incident.

These events are part of a worrying trend regarding the use of fireworks, which not only endangers people but can also cause serious harm.
