Chaos on the A100: Driver rams police car in slippery accident!
On the night of February 14, 2025, a dramatic incident occurred on the A100 in Berlin when a 21-year-old driver drove into a police emergency vehicle. The accident occurred around 11:45 p.m. while the motorway police were securing a previous traffic accident between the Schmargendorf and Hohenzollerndamm exits. Despite the flashing blue lights and electronic directional arrows pointing to the police vehicle, the young driver apparently noticed the police car too late and was unable to brake in time because of the slippery road.
How fireworld.at reported, the impact pushed the police car toward the emergency services, who were only able to escape collision by jumping quickly to the side. Both vehicles were no longer drivable due to the collision. The police have already commissioned a traffic investigation officer from Police Directorate 2 (West) to clarify further details. Due to the emotional strain, one officer resigned immediately after the incident.
Snow-related hazards on the road
This accident did not occur in isolation: how t-online.de reported that there were several more accidents on the Berlin city highway that same night due to the wintry weather conditions. Slippery conditions and snowfall in particular have led to an increased risk of accidents. The emergency services were on alert and had already put safety measures in place to secure the scene of the accident. This event should be seen as another example of the dangers posed by winter road conditions.
