SV Weiden fails in the water polo cup: Laatzen triumphs 16:8!

Drama in water polo! SV Weiden was sensationally eliminated from the German Water Polo Cup! Despite a strong first half and a captivating performance from goalkeeper Andrii Lobodynskyi, who shone with spectacular saves, the Weiden team ultimately had to admit defeat to SpVg Laatzen 8:16.

From the start, the Weiden team showed a focused performance in the first quarter and clung to an exciting 3:3. It continued in a thrilling second quarter, where both teams competed on equal terms and went into the half-time break with a narrow 4:4. But in the second half the game changed dramatically! Defensive errors and a number of personal fouls presented the Weiden team with massive challenges, while Laatzen exploited their weaknesses mercilessly. Without Lobodynskyi's brilliant saves the result would have been even more dismal. On the offensive, however, the worm seemed to be there; Only Denis Underberg with five goals and Robert Reichert with three goals were able to come close to shining.

Next step: league preparation!

SV Weiden is now turning its attention to the upcoming season in the second division and is planning a crucial preparatory tournament in Halle at the beginning of November. There, the team under coach Sean Ryder would like to prepare optimally for the start of the league in December and gain valuable match practice.

The result at a glance: SpVg Laatzen – SV Weiden 16:8 (3:3, 1:1, 6:3, 6:1), with Lobodynskyi in goal and the top scorers Underberg and Reichert in front. A bitter end, but the hope for improvement is alive!
