Edgar Selge: With Marianengraben for more understanding of mentally ill!

The celebrated actor and writer Edgar Selge (76) raises the alarm! In a passionate appeal to society, he demands more understanding for people who suffer from psychological problems. "We should make sure that, as a society, we do not rule out the people who suffer from their psyche and are therefore looking for medical treatment, but will not accompany them," explains Selge in an interview with the German Press Agency in Hamburg. A call that stimulates thinking!

a film that moves!

SELGE, who, together with his wife Franziska Walser, is committed to the organization "Basta - the Alliance for Mental People", plays a widower in his new film "Marianengraben", which comes to cinemas on Thursday. Together with a young girl (Luna Wedler), who finds out of deep depression, he goes to an emotional road trip to Italy. Both carry heavy loads: she lost her brother, he has lost his son in the past. Feelings of guilt and grief accompany you on your trip!

Selge emphasizes that the representation of such borderline situations in the film is a matter close to his heart. "In our profession at the theater and in the film, we almost exclusively deal with figures who experience borderline situations. It goes without saying that I am committed to being accepted on an equal footing in our community." An urgent appeal that stimulates the audience to think!

He adds: "We should understand that such people are more sensitive than we do. They have fewer filters against the attacks that everyday life brings." In a world that is characterized by pressure to perform and elbow mentality, Selge reminds us that our society is not complete without the voices of the mentally sensitive - rather, it is sick herself. A powerful statement that calls for action!
