Garden culture in the Regensburg district: Prizes for creative natural gardens!
A brilliant evening in the Nepal Himalaya Park in Wiesent! The district's best garden owners were celebrated at the spectacular closing ceremony of the garden year of the Regensburg district association for garden culture and land conservation. District Administrator Tanja Schweiger and OGV district association chairman Tanja Schweiger honored the radiant winners of the design competition, who shone with their creative and natural gardens. Five garden owners received the coveted “Natural Garden” plaque, while another five were awarded the prestigious Sparkasse Prize, which represents particularly high scores. Another highlight was the farewell to Torsten Mierwa, a long-time district consultant who was retiring.
Exclusive awards for garden art
The event was not only an honor, but also a celebration of inspiration! “Plant what your neighbor doesn’t have,” said house owner Heribert Wirth to the garden lovers and encouraged them to make bold planting decisions. Over the years, his team has planted an incredible 6,221 different species of plants on their property. The “Natural Garden” plaque was awarded to Cäcilia and Reinhard Gaber, Moni and Ansgar Drabe-Soer, Klaudija Promberger, Simone Kellner and Ortrun Herzog. Their gardens are characterized by the absence of chemical pesticides and fertilizers as well as a high level of ecological diversity.
The celebration was an impressive testimony to the commitment of the garden owners. Over 122 participants in the design competition received prizes and certificates for their efforts in natural and climate-friendly design. The award winners not only contribute to ecological diversity, but also beautify the townscape with their colorful gardens. Among the Sparkasse award winners are Krescence Spitzer, Cäcilia and Reinhard Gaber, Christa Juraschko and Beatrix Eifler, all of whom were recognized for their outstanding achievements. An evening full of honors, inspiration and the celebration of garden culture!
