Neumarkt: 20 million euros for sustainable energy funding!

There is positive news from the world of financing in the Neumarkt district in Upper Palatinate: KfW Bankengruppe paid out an impressive funding volume of 20.9 million euros to local companies in the first half of 2024. This shows that, despite a slight decline compared to the previous year, the funding volume remains at a stable level, reaching back to pre-crisis levels.

Nils Gründer, a member of the Bundestag from the region, expressed his delight at these developments, which particularly focus on energy efficiency and sustainable heating technologies. “The new funding programs from the KfW banking group are a significant step forward in helping small and medium-sized companies and private households in our district,” he explained.

Focus on renewable energy

A notable trend can also be observed in the area of private customers. New commitments amounted to 10.5 billion euros at the end of June 2024, a significant improvement compared to the previous year's level of 8.0 billion euros. Particularly noteworthy is the “Climate-Friendly New Construction” program, which recorded an increase in new commitments to over 3.6 billion euros in the first half of 2024 – compared to just 1.9 billion euros in the previous year.

A central point of the funding is the newly introduced heating funding, which was started on February 27, 2024. By the end of July 2024, around 77,600 grant applications with a total volume of around 1.1 billion euros had been received. The development of demand, which appeared optimistic in the second quarter of 2024, is particularly pleasing - there were around 5,000 new commitments every week. These initiatives enable both private individuals and companies to invest in modern and sustainable heating technologies.

In the Neumarkt district, 461 residential units have already benefited from these subsidies. In the first half of 2024, a total of 17.2 million euros in KfW funding for private residential properties flowed into the region.

Long-term prospects for innovative operators

Local politicians, together with the KfW banking group, are striving to further improve the framework conditions for sustainable development in the district. According to the founder, innovative start-ups and non-profit companies also benefit from these funding and thus have the opportunity to acquire capital in the long term. “Support for energy efficiency and renewable energies is not only a benefit for climate protection, but also an investment in the future of our region,” says founder.

These developments are not just limited to the Neumarkt district, but reflect a nationwide trend aimed at bringing sustainable practices and technologies to the forefront. It remains to be seen how these initiatives will develop and what impact they will have on the regional economy and social acceptance of sustainable technologies.
