Cohesion and optimism: New Year's reception in the cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm

On January 1, 2025, the New Year's reception of the cities of Neu-Ulm and Ulm took place in the Edwin Scharff House in Neu-Ulm. Around 500 visitors took part in the event, where the mayor of Neu-Ulm, Katrin Albsteiger, and the mayor of Ulm, Martin Ansbacher, gave their New Year's speeches. How Ulm News reported, the Neu-Ulm city band under the direction of conductor Thomas Hartmann played during the event. The guests were treated to snacks and drinks.

In their speeches, the two mayors discussed the challenges facing their cities, such as the mobility transition, the influx of migrants and all-day care. Albsteiger called for greater funding from the federal and state governments in order to relieve the burden on municipalities. Ansbacher pointed out that Ulm was doing better economically, but that high investments of 171 million euros were planned for 2025. Despite these difficult conditions, both mayors expressed optimism for 2025 and emphasized the courage and cohesion of the two cities.

Collaboration and confidence
