TSV Neu-Ulm narrowly wins: SGM Senden-Ay has no chance when outnumbered!

As part of an exciting Bavarian duel in the district football league, SGM Senden-Ay and TSV Neu-Ulm competed against each other. The game ended with a narrow 1-0 win for the guests from Neu-Ulm, who however struggled after the game with their marginal use of chances. “We made life difficult for ourselves and sometimes had it on a silver platter,” said TSV coach Stephan Baierl. Despite more possession and many opportunities, they were unable to decide the game more clearly.

The decisive goal came from a free kick from Oliver Schlotter. This action not only resulted in the only goal of the game, but also led to a point of discussion among the players. The referee, Koray Aydin, punished SGM defender Vedin Bektic with a red card, which was seen by many as excessive. “It's really bitter, we were missing a player in the half positions,” commented Simon Fischäß, SGM player-coach, and expressed great respect to his team for playing when they were outnumbered.

Exciting moves and pressure phases

During the course of the game, there was an intense period of pressure from Neu-Umer, especially between the 20th and 30th minutes. The SGM had to survive several scoring chances. Goalkeeper Andre Englet defused a double chance for TSV (24th), and even when Benjamin Klingen failed in a promising position (30th), the game remained open. On the other hand, the Senden-Ay team also showed some attacks, but the shots from Felix Heilig (33') and Dennis Mgbechi (36') were not a real challenge for Neu-Ulm's goalkeeper Matei Perkovic.

After halftime it was the Neu-Umer team who took the reins again and created several great chances. Maximilian Groß (50th), Klingen and Felix Hörger (52nd) had opportunities, but Englet kept his team in the game. Aydin failed to recognize a key situation in a possible penalty for Senden-Ay, which caused some fans to protest violently and forced the referee to give everyone involved a five-minute cool-down period.

Outnumbered and sacrifice

The hosts, now outnumbered by the red card, threw everything forward to equalize. Despite several header opportunities from Deniz Jahrhundert (73rd) and Florian Wentzel (85th), the equalizer failed to materialize. SGM Senden-Ay showed a fighting spirit that left an impression, especially from the 8th minute onwards when they were decimated by a red card. Even if the team seemed inferior, it offered the Neu-Umern serious competition.

The constellation remains exciting, as TSV Neu-Ulm missed points with mixed opportunities and a strong performance from SGM, while SGM showed high morale and commitment despite the defeat. The coming games will show whether SGM Senden-Ay can draw strength from this performance, while Neu-Ulm has to work on making better use of its opportunities in order to make the next games successful.
