Coach drama on A99: Fully occupied bus goes up in flames!

A99, München, Deutschland - On January 8, 2025, a Dutch coach on the A99 near Munich burned completely. The bus that was on the way to Austria was fully occupied with 52 passengers and a driver at the time of the fire. Thanks to the rapid reaction of the driver, the inmates were evacuated before the bus went up in flames.

The driver noticed smoke in the back of the bus around 6 a.m. and immediately stopped on the hard shoulder. All occupants were able to leave the bus intact. The fire led to property damage in the higher six -digit range, whereby the exact cause of the fire initially remained unclear. In addition, the A99 was partially closed, which resulted in massive traffic disruptions and a kilometer -long traffic jam in the direction of Salzburg.

The fire brigade groups from Munich, Oberschleißheim and Unterschleißheim were quickly on site to extinguish the fire. Forces from the Autobahnmeisterei and the 48 police inspection were also involved in the operational measures. Two lanes of the A99 were released, during the side strip and the two right lanes were closed. The rescue and clean-up work dragged on to the lunchtime.
