Edgar Krapp: A master on the organ
The organist Edgar Krapp, born in Bamberg in 1947, looks back on an impressive musical career. He completed his studies at the Munich University of Music under the direction of Franz Lehrndorfer and continued his musical development with Marie-Claire Alain in Paris. His outstanding achievements were recognized with first prize at the Munich ARD competition in 1971, which earned him numerous international appearances and a solid reputation as an organ virtuoso. His concerts have taken place in Europe, America and Japan and testify to his talented playing.
The concert program includes a number of well-known pieces that reflect the diversity and richness of sacred music. These include “Three songs from Schemelli’s Musicalisches Lieder-Buch” by Johann Sebastian Bach, the famous aria “He shall feed his flock” from Georg Friedrich Handel’s “Messiah”, the “Ave Maria” by Franz Schubert and the Gloria op. 59/8 by Max Reger.
