Fast-paced chase in Lohr: racing cyclists and Audi drivers in court!
A spectacular power struggle on the street caused a stir in Lohr! A 55-year-old racing cyclist and a 53-year-old driver, both from the region, engaged in a chase that now ends in front of the Gemünden district court. On April 27, 2024, the cyclist took the road instead of the bike path, which the driver didn't like at all. He asked the cyclist to use the bike path, which led to a physical argument!
The cyclist, who complained about the poor conditions of the cycle paths, responded by waving his hand and touching the Audi's rearview mirror. The driver, outraged by the alleged damage to his expensive mirror with camera, followed the cyclist. But he turned around and fled along the cycle path, only to finally be caught on the cycle path to Rodenbach. Here the driver is said to have pushed the cyclist down, which resulted in minor injuries. A witness confirmed that the cyclist had already fallen before the driver reached him.
Trial and harsh punishment
The police were called and discovered that the Audi had minor scratches that were quickly removed with car polish. In court, both men admitted that they had behaved improperly. The driver, a repeat offender, had to face a fine of 6,000 euros and a driving ban of five months. The judge advised him to call the police next time instead of taking to the streets himself!
